I have been very impressed with Abacus House Clearance. We needed a house cleared urgently, and Abacus were able to do it at very short notice. I contacted Abacus on Friday 18th April to discuss clearing my late father’s house. I gave them a list of items that needed clearing and they advised on the size of van required. Abacus were extremely helpful and were able to book the appointment for the following Wednesday. They collected the keys from a third party, completed the job and then returned the keys afterwards. They also phoned confirming that the job was completed. A very efficient service - highly recommended.
I contacted Abacus on Friday 31st March 2008 to discuss a flat clearance where the aged tenant had died a couple of weeks prior. Abacus were extremely helpful and were able to book the appointment for the following Saturday. The company were also very competitive as I had been put off by another clearance firm. On the morning of the clearance Abacus arrived on time and with two van loads had the property completely clear within half a days work. This included everything moveable in the property and left the way completely clear for remedial work to progress. Thank you very much for your help.

Thanks Abacus for a great job. With my mother having moved into a nursing home and the property being sold I was faced with the difficult task of clearing my mother’s home. Not least because I live 300 miles away in London. One phonecall to Abacus however and everything was sorted. Wow! I called these guys because I needed some pine cladding and old kitchen units taken away ready to for the builders. However when I called they said they were fully booked. I was planning to hire a van and take a half day off work to dispose of the cladding etc. myself but a few hours later they rang me saying they’d had a cancellation and could book me in, after all. How many companies do that! Delighted I said yes and 2 days later they came and cleared my driveway in something like 20 minutes. Very impressed and thanks guys. Top people.
I chose Abacus because on their website they stated they cleared mansions and that no job was too big or too small. Believe me clearing Houghton Hall was going to be a monumental task given the number of rooms filled with old junk.
I invited them to come and have a look around hoping they would say “yes, we’ll do it”, as others I had called all said no or quoted ridiculous prices. Thankfully Abacus said yes and at a most reasonable price too.
They asked for 2 weeks maximum to clear the Hall and for permission to stay on the premises with their caravan so they could save on travel expenses and time, as well as having permission to hire large yard skips. Having agreed on all the details I pretty much left them to get on with their business.
What unfolded was astonishing. To witness the clearance of all those rooms and all that rubbish in 10 days was amazing. I thought their 2 week estimate was rather optimistic myself, but they did indeed complete the job on time, just like they promised.

The house had been empty for some time and pigeons had got in. The company were very professional and dealt with the environmental officer and on request quickly gave me another quote to bring up to standard and hire in all the right equipment.
The following day they completed the job in half a day and brought me everything I’d asked for lots of personal items I’d forgotten about so that I could check whether or not I wanted them.

We contacted Abacus following the good reviews on this web site and after a friendly chat with Mr Graeme of Abacus, we arranged for a call out after they give us a quote. Not only did they not charge for a call out but they proved quite cheap compared to other house clearance companies we had been in contact with (some wouldn’t call out unless we paid their petrol money!). We wanted the job done quick as the property is soon to go on the market, and they did the job within the time they had specified, 3 hours for a 3 bedroom house, clearing the carpets and small outer house as requested. We can’t thank them enough as we were considering doing it ourselves after a fruitless search using Yellow Pages. We used these people a few weeks before Xmas to clear my mother’s house who sadly died a month or so back and they were brilliant, they cleared the entire house from top to bottom and were very discreet and professional. We came from Scotland and had to be back that same night and other companies we called up were saying it could take 2 days to clear but these people did it in a few hours, bringing 4 men and a huge van.
